Barcelona plotting move to sign Firmino

Barcelona are plotting a move to sign Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino.

The Brazil international has emerged as a transfer target for the La Liga champions according to a report by El Chiringuito de Jugones and they will launch a bid next Summer.

Firmino has carved himself a reputation for being one of the hardest working forwards in the game and his fine form at Anfield over the past few years has alerted the attention of the Catalan giants.

They are said to see the former Hoffenheim man as the perfect successor for Luis Suarez, who left Liverpool to join Barcelona four years ago, as the Uruguay international heads into his thirties.

Another former Red in the shape of Philippe Coutinho, who forced a move to Barcelona in January this year, has given his new club a glowing reference for his compatriot and that has seen them further convinced to pursue a deal.

Barcelona are said to be impressed with Firmino’s work rate and ability to press opposition players further up the pitch and will make their move to try and lure him to the Camp Nou at the end of the season.

Liverpool supporters will hope that Firmino has more loyalty to the club than Coutinho did.
