Shaqiri opens up on his start

Liverpool midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri has spoken about the start he has made to life at the club.

The Switzerland international has only made a couple of starts since arriving from relegated Stoke City in the Summer – but he has admitted that he knew it wouldn’t be easy to get into the side.

“You don’t have to keep me happy.” he told Aargauer Zeitung.

“The process has worked well for me so far. Sure, every professional wants to play. I do too, but there are still a lot of games to come.

“On top of that, you just need to look and acknowledge what has been done at Liverpool recently. A lot of people did a good job.

“That’s why everything hasn’t been turned upside down overnight.

“What is happening is exactly what I expected.

“I decided to move to Liverpool fully aware that I would have a harder time in a club of this standing than, for example, other clubs that tried to help me.” he finished.

Shaqiri will be hoping to get more minutes on the pitch after the international break.
