Morton Attracting Interest from Across Europe
As Tyler Morton prepares to report back for pre-season training at the beginning of next month, the young midfielder is garnering significant attention from potential transfer suitors across Europe.
The 21-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan, first at Blackburn Rovers and most recently with Hull City, where he formed a core part of the squad that ultimately fell short of a playoff spot in the Championship.
Morton’s impressive performances have caught the eye of several clubs, with RB Leipzig emerging as a serious contender for his signature according to Paul Joyce of the Times. Leipzig view Morton as a talent with the potential to thrive in their renowned developmental environment, and their existing relationship with Liverpool could play a pivotal role in any potential transfer.
In addition to Leipzig, Sevilla, Feyenoord, Eintracht Frankfurt are also credited with an interest in the player.
While there is considerable interest from abroad, a number of Premier League and Championship clubs are also keen to secure his signature, either permanently or on another loan deal. The club however see a future for Morton at Anfield, and are not desperate to sell.
For the club to let Morton go, it is anticipated that they will demand a fee comparable to that of Sepp van den Berg, recently sold to Brentford £20 million.
During his time at Hull, Morton demonstrated significant growth and confidence, which he will aim to carry into pre-season training under the guidance of manager Arne Slot. With a number of first-team players due to report back late following their participation in the European Championships and Copa America, it is likely the player will have plenty of opportunity to impress his new boss.
Slot is likely to make a decision on Morton’s future after he’s had a chance to assess his squad, though that could all change should an offer to good to refuse is made.
