Mane set to return for Red Star Belgrade clash

Liverpool winger Sadio Mane is in contention to take on Red Star Belgrade.

That’s the news being reported by The Mirror, who are claiming that the Senegal international is back in training ahead of the resumption of the Champions League group stage after the international break.

It will come as good news to manager Jurgen Klopp after the German was unable to call on the services of the former Southampton man for Saturday’s narrow 1-0 victory at Huddersfield Town.

Mane started the season in fine form, but faded through September and is need of game time to start getting back to his best after some disappointing performances.

Red Star Belgrade visit Anfield on Wednesday evening looking for their first victory in this season’s competition after a draw with Napoli and a heavy loss against Paris Saint Germain.

Klopp will be hoping his players can bounce back from a late 1-0 loss against the Italian side in the last round of fixtures as he looks to get the club out of what is proving to be a tight group – as many expected it would be.

Mane was left out of the win on Saturday after breaking the thumb on his left hand in Senegal’s win over Sudan last week, following his early return to Merseyside for an operation to fix the bone.

It looks like he has made a quick enough recovery to get back to action.
