Keown backs Liverpool to lift title
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has backed Liverpool to win the Premier League title.
The ex-England international was taking part in a question and answer session for the Daily Mail when he gave his verdict on which club would be champions once the season is over.
And the pundit also believes that Jurgen Klopp will steer his side to three priceless points against title rivals Tottenham Hotspur this weekend when they head to Wembley.
“I can see Liverpool winning this 2-1.” he explained.
“For them to be champions, this is a game they have to win.
“There is a wonderful partnership developing between Gomez and Van Dijk, Keita has added energy to the midfield and up front while Sadio Mane looks a man on a mission to outscore Mo Salah this season.
“I’m backing Liverpool to be champions… so I think they will win this.” he added.
Keown explained that he sees the Reds taking advantage of champions Manchester City prioritising a push to win the Champions League for the first time.
“While Manchester City stunned the Premier League last season, they did not have the same aura in Europe.” he continued.
“Winning the Champions League is their next big goal.
“Guardiola will feel he is recreating what he had at Barcelona.
“One of the reasons why I think Liverpool will win the Premier League is because I believe City will seriously challenge in Europe.” he finished.
Liverpool supporters will hope that his prediction turns out to be accurate.
