Everton interested in signing Origi
Everton are interested in signing Divock Origi from Liverpool.
That is the surprise claim being made by Turkish outlet Aksam, who are reporting that the Belgian forward is a potential transfer target for the Goodison Park outfit.
Manager Marco Silva is considering allowing striker Cenk Tosun to leave them in order to make a return to Besiktas, the club he left to join Everton, and would use the funds to try and tempt Liverpool into a deal.
It is rare for players to move between the two Merseyside clubs, but it has happened on several occasions previously – but not since Portugal international Abel Xavier moved to Anfield in 2002.
Former England international Nick Barmby made a £6m switch across Stanley Park when ex-Reds boss Gerard Houllier did a surprise deal to snap him up in July 2000.
The last player to leave Anfield for Goodison Park is Gary Ablett, when the defender ended his decade long spell as a Liverpool player to sign for Everton in 1992.
So Origi would be the first man to leave the club to join Everton in over twenty-six years, should there be any truth in these claims and a deal goes ahead.
It seems highly unlikely on both counts.
