Yeah, the fact they are paying for him to play for Spurs isn't right either.

That said, we could have loaned him ourselves.

It doesn't sit well with me either, but while everyone else is doing it so should we. One of the major problems at LFC for the last 20 years is we've not kept up with a changing game both on and off the pitch.

PSG have made a £25m bid for Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.

The French giants made the offer this morning after Manchester City turned down a £21m bid from Inter Milan.

PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti said: "Tevez is a player I really like, he is fantastic. If we want to play at a high level, we must act well in the market, looking for players who can give us a hand."

Inter Milan renewed their bid to sign Tevez last night.

However the offer has fallen short of Manchester City's asking price.

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti said: "I believe there are still other teams involved for the striker.

"There are clubs in England as well as PSG. In football there are no secrets. Our offer is 25million euros. Now it depends on them whether they accept or not."

The Italian giants brushed aside rivals AC Milan last night after beating them 1-0.

The win is Inter's sixth successive win in Serie A and they now lie just six points off top spot.

Moratti added: "Do we need Tevez? At this moment, it seems not, but football gives different answers every day.

"The offer is there, but now we are free to decide whether to go ahead or not."

Inter coach Claudio Ranieri added: "You never know. Do we really need him? You journalists certainly do..."

"If he joins he'll be very welcome."

City are adamant Tevez will not be despatched on loan, want £25m up front and are not happy about a ‘sign now pay up later’ deal.

If City fail to sell Tevez, then they face the prospect of deciding whether to hand him back his shirt on February 1 when all moves are off.

City’s first-team coach David Platt said: “The manager is dealing with the players he has got at his disposal. We’re into the January transfer window where Carlos has his suitors.

“Carlos and his advisers will tell you that they want to find a solution for him in terms of a different club. City are quite happy to accept offers. But if it’s not the right deal for the club then he will still be a City player.

“Where we go from February 1 if that happens, we will see and deal with that when it comes.”

Spurs and QPR are likely to be the English clubs after him.

With AC Milan, Inter ans PSG out of the running, at least until the summer, it seems that he is staying at City ... Now is the right time to make a cheeky loan bid ...

Manchester City reject Liverpool's Andy Carroll for Carlos Tevez offer

• Liverpool offered City a straight swap of the strikers
• Tevez likely to return to Manchester City next week

Daniel Taylor
Saturday 28 January 2012 23.00 GMT

Liverpool have made a remarkable bid to swap Andy Carroll with Carlos Tevez and move on their club-record £35m signing not even a year after signing him from Newcastle United.

The Anfield club contacted City on Thursday to ask how much they want for Tevez and whether they would be willing to contemplate a straight exchange with Carroll. Brian Marwood, the City football administrator, rebuffed the idea immediately, even though Carroll is a player Roberto Mancini has admitted admiring when he was at Newcastle.

The move demonstrates how Liverpool are now openly looking at offloading Carroll despite the insistence behind the scenes at Anfield that he can still play a prominent part and Kenny Dalglish's praise for the player after the 2-1 FA Cup defeat of Manchester United.

Carroll has scored only six goals in 35 appearances since becoming the eighth most expensive footballer in history and has not even been able to establish himself as a regular starter this season.

His problems adapting on Merseyside have also left Liverpool willing to take a £10m hit on the player, with Tevez valued at £25m, though that revelation is hardly surprising considering his difficulties at Anfield, added to the sense that he has not always been fully focused.

Fabio Capello, the England manager, has already expressed misgivings about the lifestyle of a player who has managed only two league goals this season in 20 appearances.

Those remarks went down badly at Anfield, with Dalglish defending Carroll, but the questions will probably not go away until he becomes a regular scorer. Carroll's longest run of starts this season is three games and Marwood's decision was made on the basis that he could no longer improve their team even though Mancini has a shortage of front players at a time when Tevez's strike is in its 11th week and Mario Balotelli is now serving a four-match suspension.

Tevez is planning to return to Manchester next week now it has become apparent that Milan are not able to meet City's asking price and, unless anything changes before Tuesday's transfer deadline, his adviser, Kia Joorabchian, says the Argentinian wants to re-establish himself in the team.

Whether that is possible remains to be seen, with Mancini not prepared to entertain the idea unless there is an apology from Tevez for walking out on the club and the string of other offences that have already led to him being found guilty of gross misconduct and losing almost £10m in wages, fines and lost bonuses since the start of the season.

Tevez is still a formidable striker and finished as the league's joint-top scorer last season, but he will be returning to England with a severely damaged reputation and Liverpool's attempt to take him along the M62 will surprise many people given his propensity for causing dressing-room problems and an apparent dislike of living in England.

There is also the fact that, approaching his 28th birthday, he would not have fitted into Liverpool's usual policy of buying players at a young age who will keep a resale value over the course of their contract. Liverpool, however, were willing to make an exception and City would have been glad to arrange a deal after unsuccessful talks not just with Milan but also Juventus, Internazionale and Paris St-Germain. They remain open to offers for the Argentinian but will not change their mind about Carroll.

Apparently we also offered Maxi for Silva in a straight swap...or so a City insider told me.

Both have about as much truth in as the other.

Rumours are that we are trying to get him on loan until the end of the season should City be unable to offload him. The deal would involve us paying all off his 200k a week, which comes to just under 5million. Some would say costly but I'd happily take it because if he produces the form he showed while at City then it would greatly increase our chances of 4th spot. We don't have to play City again this season and if City fail to offload him it would make sense for them as not only does it give us a higher chance of taking points off there rivals for the title it also saves them a potential 5million and a chance for him to get some good form which may make him look better come the summer transfer market.

I don't see it happening but I really hope it does as it would be a great bit of business all round.

But is it worth the bad press and morale he brings with him? I can just see Kenny punching him in the taint.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish would take Carlos Tevez on loan – if Manchester City let their rebel star leave before the window shuts.

Dalglish’s club have made a cheeky approach for the Argentinian who could play for them in their push for the top four and both Cup competitions.

Tevez is currently in dispute with City and still pining for a move to AC Milan, but the Italian giants – and all other interested parties – are unwilling to commit to a full-time deal. So Liverpool have joined the queue of interested parties who would take Tevez on loan, paying his £200,000-a-week wages in the process at the cost of around £5million in rent.

Tevez’s fate will be decided before tomorrow midnight, when the transfer window will close.

Relations between City and their former skipper are so poor that they may block the Milan move and push the Liverpool idea instead.

The Anfield club are furious at suggestions that misfiring £35million striker Andy Carroll was offered in a swap deal as Dalglish wants him to be in his side for the push on three fronts.

Maybe there was something in the interview after we knocked Man City out the CC last week when the reporter asked Kenny about Craig Bellamy's performance on the night. Kenny said if Man City have got any players like him they want to get rid of then give him a call.

Just wondering...

Yep, I thought about Tevez when Kenny said that.

I've always wondered whether Kenny would consider Tevez a lost cause or someone he could manage and tame. Hopefully we'll find out tomorrow.

Actually, it would be £4.2 million, from February 1st to June 30th ...
