Our victory was great. But our victory was more expected. Fulham who are a pretty small team even in England, beat a pretty big team (German champions), they desereve the exposure they are getting more than us.

I feel like socking the person who says "if your not in and around Liverpool city, your not an LFC fan". Im sure quite a few people have that opinion.
On another forum, when we were discusing about the Liverpool 1-2 Reading game, and i and many others said that booing the team is just not acceptable, the more 'important' members of the forums starting saying that your far away, your not here, we payed money to go and watch the match, and our money was wasted, so we have the right to boo.
Let me tell you, we can be miles away from Liverpool city, you can be in Canada, Australia, India, Kenya, Honduras, Sudan, Saudi, Mongolia, Vietnam, Iraq, Kuwait, Namibia, Estonia, you get the point, but you can be as passionate as any other scouse in Liverpool. I GUARANTEE you that.

Its may be biased, unrealistic blah blah blah, but the least we can do is be optimistic.
But im not making that statement with blind-faith, ive got valid reasons, and heres why...
(matches in red are the ones the teams could drop points in)
Tottenham Hotspur:
Arsenal (H) Chelsea (H) Man Utd (A) Bolton (H) Man City (A) Burnley (A)
________________________________________
Man City
Birmingham (H) Man Utd (H) Arsenal (A) Aston Villa (H) Tottenham (H) West Ham (A)
_________________________________________
Aston Villa (note: Villa could drop points in all their remaining games, just cant see them finishing 4th)
Everton (H) Portsmouth (A) Hull (A) Birmingham (H) Man City (A) Blackburn (H)
__________________________________________
Liverpool
Fulham (H) West Ham (H) Burnley (A) Chelsea (H) -- (we know how to play against them) Hull (A)

Liverpool FC / Liverpool FC Discussion / Re: Rafa's decision making.
|
on: April 8, 2010, 02:33:36 PM

First bit yeah agree Rafa knows his players better than we do Second bit Torres wasn't given that amount of space like Ngog as Birmingham knew if he had that space he would of scored, when Ngog came on Birmingham saw their chance to go for the win. Torres was heavily marked as they knew the danger he possessed. So if Ngog scored the winner we would of been saying good decision but as he didn't we are not saying that. The idea was good as it created space that wasn't there when Torres was on the pitch and the chances came Good point actually about the marking. But lest be honest Torres is the only player who can actually change the game this season. More so than Gerrard as well. Put it this way, would Ferguson have taken off Rooney if he was in the same position and put on Berbatov or something, i dont think so. Im tired of the media speaking about Rooney's passion etc. To be fair to him, hats of to him for starting the match against Bayern. But if it is in Torres' hands, he too would want to start is he was in Rooneys position. He too has passion, heart, desire.... What im trying to say is that if it was in Torres' hands, he would want to play matches, even if he felt a small pain or something like that. Thats probably what rafa meant when he said aquilani's injury is in his head. Rafa is a tactical genius (cant really prove that this season), but some of his decisions are astonishing, really. It would have been a whole different story of Ngog had taken his chances. But as is the case, Torres was take off by the gaffer, and the blame comes on him. Now what if, and sorry for being pessimistic, but what if Torres was removed keepin in mind the Benfica game, but we dont go through tonight, and dont finsih 4th. That one small decision, may have completely broken our season, stopped it from being even satisfactory.

Liverpool FC / Liverpool FC Discussion / Rafa's decision making.

We can never know for sure about managers making decisions. From where we sit it might look astonishing. But the manager knows his players better than we do.
Torres getting subd against Brum. Would he have reacted in that way if he had an injury. He may have put ice or watever on his knee. But will a player of that calibre be 'exausted' from a match played 3 days ago. He might have scored the chances that fell to Ngog if he had stayed on. But as is the case, that decision may have cost us 4th spot. It certainly puts us in a precarious position.
This is just one of many shocking decisions of Rafa. Remember in Torres's first season, everyone in dreamland with the spanish star in the team, hes smashing in goals, embarrasing defenders, then we have a home game against brum, see the line-up- No Torres. Match ends 0-0.
So is Benitez a genius at these decisions, or just plain foolish. Should just take a risk or two at times?

you are obviously better informed than me i didnt know that the bellamy money was for torres if that was the only we could get the funds fair enough. if crouch wanted to go its because he didnt play enough and it is down to the manager to try and keep players happy isnt it? otherwise every club would only have a starting 11.
Well, i remember when Crouch was there, benitez got lot of stick for playinc crouch over and over and over again. But the tall guy was just not performing, remember he took more than 10 games to score his first goal for liverpool. rafa did make him a better player. lot faster. Then torres came, and crouch was obviously overlooked. Torres was always going to be chosen ahead of him. although i thought that torres-crouch would have been a great partnership if used well. dont really blame benitez for that.

i cant understand why he has sold some of the players that he was so keen to sign? crouch? bellamy? they are both top players that i would love to be still with us. he MUST regret selling those 2?
keane is a bit different cause im not sure he bought keane?
Crouch wanted to go. Transfer money from Bellamy deal was used to get Torres. (im sure you dont mind bellamy leaving now? ) And Keane, well tats a mystery, aparently H&G signed him. Stil tink he should have been give time.

well if rafa stays i dont think he will buy any more strikers and i feel this is our real weakness in the squad. hes bringing in jovanovich who i know f*** all about but milan wanted him (DID THEY WANT HIM CAUSE FREE OR CAUSE GOOD?) i cant see him forking out big money for another striker. well see wont we. If Jovanovich is coming, i dont expect a new big money striker. I too havent seen much of him, but from what i have seen- hes alright, pretty good in fact. Hes like the strong, good header target man player, but is not lazy, can run and do tricks. He'll form a good partnership with Torres. Ive always liked the target man-fast player partnership. He can also reveal to Torres some of Vidic's tricks, being his international team-mate. Torres can run him ragged even more!

Summer is critcial for us i must admit, we do need money coming in, we do need new quality players coming in and maybe we do need a new manager with different ideas coming in.
If we do finish 4th like Scouse said it would cover up a poor season but if we do win the Europa league will the poor season become a success??????? Unfortunally it does boil down to money at the end of the day, Man u have built their way to the top, Chelsea have had Abramovich bank rolling their latest success and Man city are looking to follow Chelsea's way but how long will it be before the Arabs pull the purse stings tight like Abramovich has done at Chelsea?????
We do need investment for the squad and maybe more important investment in a new stadium bigger stadium as this would be a bigger source of regular income coming in to the club and would let us compete against the likes of Chelsea, Man u and Arsenal.
No mate, it doesnt, ask yourself, if someone had told you that Liverpool would finish 4th, win the Europa League, and not do anything in the domestic cups, would you take it? I dont think so. Even if we manage 4th spot, and Europa League title, the maximum this season can be labelled is- satisfactory. Or below that. Nothing more.
