A nice easy game to ease ourselves back in after the disappointment of West Brom . Aguero is out which is obviously good, but of course they're only gonna replace him with another world class striker. If Ballotelli could get himself sent off again, that'd be wonderful. I think the team should look like this:

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Coates Enrique
Lucas Allen Gerrard
Suarez Borini Assaidi

That's right, I say we throw Assaidi straight in the deep end. He'll be eager to impress, and Micah Richards will have a far better time outmuscling the more predictable Stewart Downing. Downing also played in Edinburgh as well, so he'll be a bit more knackered, even if was just a 25 minute cameo.

Hopefully Enrique will be fit for this one, otherwise I'd play Jack Robinson. Johnson just never looks entirely comfortably playing on the left, and Kelly will be a bit more knackered anyway having played the entire 90 minutes against Hearts.

Carroll always seems to cause City problems too, so a must to have on the bench. I'm gonna optimistically predict a 2-1 victory to us.

2-1 either way. First goal is crucial.

someone went for City 2-1 in the predictor game .. i wonder who that was

Liverpool win here for me ... City will concede so i think its all about us keeping a clean sheet which im sure we can

even tho i went for 2-1

Yeah, I went 2-1 to City because that is what I think will happen, but it is not what I want to happen.

deep breath. Think beautiful thoughts. move on.

I think we will play City off the park and win convincingly by two clear goals. I do think we are likely to concede though so 3-1 or 4-2 it is. As for the team, I'm pretty sure Pepe will start, after that I've no idea

There is no problem with not being blind biased (deluded) into thinking we will win every game.

Kids and idiots think like that in my experience.

Manchester City are the champions of this country and don't often lose.

While we have lost one out of one in the league this season and are on an overall run of ten defeats in fifteen league games.

I believe in logic and reality - not a naive bias based on support and desire.

If we win, I will be delighted. I am watching the game with the in-laws (City fans, one of which is a season ticket holder) and am desperate for us to beat them so we can get going and lay down a marker and so I don't have to take a load of stick.

But will I change my honest opinion based on what I have seen just because I want us to win? No.

Get over it.

Who needs to get over it Oli?

I gave my opinion on what I think and hope will happen. It may not fit with your logical approach and opinion (which I did not question btw) but I am entitled to it, however "deluded" you may think it is.

If I had anything to get over that would hint I already have. Why do take exception to any of my posts that show a bit of optimism. Isn't it allowed any more?

I think we have a good chance actually.

We need to get stuck into them quickly. Get the ball forward to Suarez and give them a going over.

No Aguero is a big plus for us. Tevez and Toure are still big dangers to us.

No Agger is a big worry. Coates and Carra don't inspire confidence while Skrtel too has been poor in the most recent league games.

But City were vulnerable last week against Southampton and nearly lost at home - which is a massive rarity these days.

It is a really hard game to call and I think it will be 2-1 one way or another or another feisty 1-1 draw like last time in the league at Anfield.

Going to be tight.

I hope you are right.

Hopefully the lack of Aguero, Barry and Richards will hurt them more than no Agger for us.

I hope Sterling is at least on the bench.
