Jon Flanagan is one of the most promising talents to emerge from the Liverpool academy in recent years.
Whilst staff at the club were fully aware of his ability, the right back was a relative unknown to most Reds fans when at the age of 18 he was handed a shock debut by Kenny Dalglish against Manchester City at Anfield. The youngster gave an assured display worthy of a player many years his senior, and earned rave reviews.
Having been overlooked previously, Flanagan was finally recognised by the England youth set-up in 2011, earning call-ups to the U19s and U21s.
Whilst by no means a regular in the first 11, he has impressed both fans and pundits alike when given the opportunity, and provides backup for senior colleagues Martin Kelly and Glen Johnson.
