The race to sign Real Madrid star James Rodriguez is now down to just two clubs.
That’s according to Spanish newspaper Don Balon, who are reporting that Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester United will fight it out for the Colombian international.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been regularly linked with a move for the former AS Monaco man recently, but it now appears that his interest has cooled.
It seems that the twenty-five year old was simply being targeted as a potential replacement for Brazil international Philippe Coutinho, should he have been sold to Barcelona this Summer.
But the Reds have informed the La Liga giants that the former Inter Milan playmaker is not for sale under any circumstances and is going to remain at Anfield.
That means that plans to try and bring Rodriguez to Merseyside at the end of the season have been put on ice and efforts to sign other players will be stepped up.
United look to be the favourites to sign Rodriguez thanks to their spending power and links with his agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents Jose Mourinho.
