Pep Segura leaves Liverpool

By Jaylew727, Fri 17/08/12 at 22:37

Pep Segura has left his position as Liverpool FC reserves coach, according to Times journalist Tony Barrett.

Segura had looked set for a promotion this season, but after seeing the job of first team coach given to Mike Marsh he was forced to continue in his role as second string boss.

Barrett believes this to be the reason behind his surprise departure, which will leave a gaping hole in the Reds' reserve set-up.

That is disappointing news.

From what I understand and have seen, I think he would have been better than Marsh as a coach. But we need to trust Rodgers in forming his own staff team.

i hope there is no knock-on effect to the academy.

Ditto.

We just seemed to be building things nicely with the youth side under his leadership.

That is bad news, but agree we have to stand by the manager.  I hope this doesn't effect Rodolfo.

Yep, me too.

Segura was integrating youth players into the reserve setup well.

I hope Borrell sticks around to keep his development program going strong.

just been reading about this, its seems he was made promises that wernt kept, now weather thats cause marsh was promoted instead of him or when we had no manager and directors of football and technicaly whohars were being mention who nos what he was promised......

they youth set up has baffeled me for a few years, for years the academy was run by stevie highway and frank mac and with them we developed one of the best youth set ups around, produced the likes of owner, fowler, macmanaman, gerrard carra to name a few then think of some of the others that have played at a top level and those that are still playing in a teams in top divisons, but then when raffa wanted total contol and implimented his complete change at all lvls of the club and gone were 2 of the best youth coaches/people to ever work with us...now before anyone says it iam not knockin pep,far from it he is probly the best youth coach/manager around and we were luckie to get him from baracs famous youth set up but the youth players making the grade have all been bought, yes kelly spearing have come from this set up but have been in the 1st team for a few years, then you got flano he has been given a chance, but the likes of sterling suso and some of the other lads we seen pre season have been bought in...

one thing ive noticed from all the pre season vids pics and news from melwood is how hands on rodgers is in training compared to kenny who had clarkie running traing and raffa was the same, maybe there is going to be another inner promotion...yes he is gona need help and wont be doing it all himself but maybe like raffa was with highway and frank brenden may not like the direction pep wanted to go,if these promises r true they were probly made by kenny and co and times change...

i have confidence that there is a plan in place to cover his departure, and we will see soon enough it unfold,we have to trust and give them the chance to do there job.....
