Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic has agreed to join Sporting Lisbon on loan.
The Serbian international has finally given the thumbs up to an exit from Anfield this Summer after previously turning down moves.
Sporting had previously offered Markovic a permanent move back to Portugal, but the former Benfica man spurned the chance as he did not want a long term return to the country. But after some persuasion he has agreed to the loan switch.
He was previously looking for a move to either Germany, Italy or Spain having never played in either of those nations previously.
But no offers were forthcoming from the Bundesliga, Serie A or La Liga and Markovic was facing a season of uncertainty.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp had informed Markovic that he would be unlikely to make many appearances this season.
Newcastle United had been interested in signing Markovic, but he did not want to play in the Championship and preferred a Premier League loan move.
But there was little interest in England.
