Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has identified three players as his priority for the Summer.
Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk is top of his wanted list as the German looks to shore up a defence which has again conceded too many goals this season.
The board are prepared to back the manager with a bid of £50m, which could potentially include Mamadou Sakho in a part-exchange deal, to bring the Dutchman to Anfield.
Klopp also wants to bring RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita to the club this Summer after being impressed by the Guinea international’s performances this season in the Bundesliga.
Another Bundesliga player completes the trio with Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt completing the set of priority targets for the ex-Borussia Dortmund manager.
Klopp will face strong competition for all three players thanks to interest from Chelsea and Manchester City in Van Dijk and Bayern Munich aiming to snap up both the German based targets.
Everton are also keen to sign Van Dijk, but it is unlikely they will be successful in any move to reunite former Saints boss Ronald Koeman with the defender.
