In that case then other players around him need to be aware of a flick on or the knock back to the midfield
Very good point and I agree with you completely. There have been several opportunities that have passed when we didn't have anyone in the box to latch on to the ball when Carroll made a great header back across.

Thats where our players need to be more intelligent and the likes of Gerrard, Suarez and Bellamy are and they will see what he is doing an play accordingly

he needs to start taking players on similar to what Torres used to do when he didn't suck. Till then we will remain very one dimensional and continue to struggle for consistent goals regardless of work rate.
It's not that simple, they aren't the same type of player, think Carroll will always be the type to score goals with his head (only one I recall for us so far bit he's hit the post a few times) and longer range shots. He seems to panic too much with the ball at his feet and Torres was one of the fastest striker in the league, so he's not going to be taking too many players on.
I for one am completely happy with his flicks and holding up if he gets it right.

We've been saying for ages that Carroll is a confidence player, and with a few starts under his belt, he really seems to be coming on leaps and bounds. His touch, vision and passing is infinitely better, even his flick ons seem to have a direction and purpose now.
I think he does have what it takes to succeed, he got space against Tottenham, and if it wasn't for an unlucky slip, he probably could have got a goal.
I think defences have learned to deal with him, so he needs to mix up his game if he's gonna get any luck and he seems to be starting to come good. I know 3 games isn't much to base it on, but I honestly think that once he's back to full confidence he's gonna be unplayable.
Recently, we've seen him be absolutely dominant in the air, he's leading the line, being able to hold up the ball and move it on so he can get forward (something that he MASSIVELY struggled with earlier in the season) he's even getting on to the end of the admittedly s**t crosses we're putting in for him.
I can just see it coming together now as we all thought it would when we signed both Carroll and Suarez, with the meaty burly target man, knocking the balls down to the quick tricky trequartista. If those 2 can get a good run of games and a good understanding of each others football, we'll definitely start banging them in.
