Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce that midfielder Joe Allen has today completed his transfer from Swansea City.
The Wales international signed a long-term contract after passing a medical at Melwood.
After finalising the deal, Allen told Liverpoolfc.com: "I feel incredible. Everyone knows the history of this club, it's a massive club, and I'm delighted to have joined.
"The passion that people here have for football is something I share and I want to be part of that.
"I'm looking forward to being part of some great years ahead for Liverpool Football Club."
The 22-year-old becomes our second summer signing following the arrival of Fabio Borini.
Brendan Rodgers said: "I'm absolutely delighted that Joe has made the decision to come with us on this journey.
"Joe is a player whose profile will fit perfectly with the ideas of this group. His ability to control and dominate the ball is an important ingredient in our attempt to gain success on the field.
"Joe has had a fantastic education at Swansea City and will now begin the next chapter in his exciting career, and I wish him all the very best in what I'm sure will be a long and distinguished career here at Liverpool."

Welcome Joe hope he can be a great player for us. I imagine he will play along side lucas with gerrard in front. Is that the end of Adam, spearing or shelved? One will go surely.

Excellent signing was very impressed with him in the Olympics - great on the ball and excellent control and a bit of pace and passing, alonso and mash crossed - you can only hope. I expect big things to out play because of him and thats why he has paid the money - spearing is gone surely and adam

Finally, but all good things come to those that wait! Our midfield look sorted.

I think our midfield was already fine and i think others areas need more attention.
Not too sure about Allen but best of luck to him. Stats are on his side and I hope he can replicate it with us.

Hopefully we will now start work on the other areas higher up the field. But this was a signing that was always going to happen. I think this guy is going to be really good. Had a good season last season and played well in the olympics still very young.

I am pleased about this.
Hopefully it means Charlie Adam is off.

I'm glad we didn't end up paying the £20m that was mentioned, but £15m is still a bit steep. He's a good player though, and I'm excited to see him in action.
