Liverpool have confirmed that Danny Ings has begun rehabilitation, following news that surgery on his knee last week went well.
The striker had not long returned from almost a year out of action when he suffered a further setback in the League Cup victory over Tottenham, and last week it was confirmed that he would not play for another 7-9 months.
Last week Jurgen Klopp said that surgery had gone well for the 24-year-old, and today the club released a statement confirming that the player had returned to Melwood.
Ings has been at the club for almost 18 months now, and in that time has only featured 11 times in total, spending the majority of it injured.
Fortunately the club has a number of attacking options, plus Klopp has never really had a chance to get used to having the player as an option. However, another long period of time out so soon after the last has to be cause for concern.
There is no doubting the talent that Ings possesses, but for him to be a hit at Anfield this has to be his last long lay-off for a while.
