Callaghan - I'd love Carra to break my record

Liverpool's record appearance holder Ian Callaghan has paid a special tribute to Jamie Carragher after Bootle's finest notched up 700 first-team games during Thursday's Europa League clash with Gomel.
he legendary winger played 857 times in a red shirt during a wonderful spell in front of the Kop, but he admits he would love to hand the record over to Liverpool's No.23 one day.
Callaghan said: "Jamie would have to play 50 games a season for another three seasons to get there, which is a lot to ask, but at the end of the day records are there to be broken.
"And I have said all along that if anyone was going to break it I'd like it to be Jamie because he's a lovely guy, a fantastic footballer and has a great attitude.
"But even if he doesn't get there, to reach 700 games is a fantastic milestone, especially in this age of squad rotation.
"When I was playing it was the age of Shanks telling us 'Samed team as last season', so it's fantastic for Jamie to get to 700."

Unfortunately, there is no way that Carra will notch up another 157 appearances for us before retiring.

You would hope not too, in all fairness.
He is in decline and just would not be good enough to pass that record.

It would take him about 6 seasons to get near that!

Not under Brendan, I don't think he will get to 750. He'll struggle, think his move into coaching and getting his badges is imminent.

He might if Agger goes. He'd be alright for about 20 games, but then he'd be knackered. He's prone to odd f**k up now, but he is still better than a lot playing in the prem.

I still trust him more than Coates.

In theory, Coates will improve with games. Jamie's game can only diminish now, unfortunately.

Agreed, but I would still pick Carra ahead of him.

Not for me in the Brendan way of football.
