Bayern Munich have opened negotiations over a deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt.
That’s according to German outlet SportsBild, who are reporting that the young star is in advanced talks over a switch to the Bundesliga champions.
It will come as a big blow to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after he put Brandt to the top of his Summer transfer targets for the end of the season.
Brandt has been impressing for Leverkusen despite being just twenty years of age and looked a very realistic transfer target for Klopp.
But Bayern’s interest is likely to throw a real spanner in the works, given their status in their own country as well as on the Champions League stage.
Klopp is aiming to get Liverpool into the competition for next season and will have to if he has any chance of securing his priority transfer targets for next season.
It is likely that he will miss out on Brandt if Bayern are set on doing a deal, however.
