Barcelona are set to end their attempt to sign Philippe Coutinho.
That’s because FSG released a short statement today insisting that the Brazil international would not be leaving Anfield this Summer following two bids from the Spanish club.
Reports today are emerging which claim that the Catalan club will instead try and secure a deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen.
The Danish international has been in similarly impressive form for the north London based club and would be a good fit for Barcelona – but they are likely to find negotiations with Spurs every bit as difficult.
Chairman Daniel Levy is well-known for being a tough man to deal with and he is likely to dig his heels in over letting Eriksen leave Spurs this Summer – especially as he is one of their key players.
But it is good news for Liverpool supporters following the statement which all but ends Barcelona’s chase for Coutinho – who is yet to make any public comment on the offers from the Spanish club.
Barcelona lost Neymar to Paris Saint Germain last week and are desperately attempting to replace him before the season kicks off.
