'Big players' still want to join LFC insists Comolli

Damien Comolli claims 'big players' are still interested in joining Liverpool.

A six-year trophy drought was ended in dramatic fashion at Wembley yesterday after the Reds played out a 2-2 draw with Cardiff City at the end of extra time before winning on penalties.

And Comolli, Liverpool's director of football, believes winning the competition for a record eighth time will act as a springboard in luring the game's most sought-after names to Anfield this summer.

"We already know that there are big players who want to join us next summer because they believe in the project," he told Sky Sports.

"Everybody in Europe knows what Liverpool Football Club are trying to do.

"Obviously the fact that we're back playing in Europe and we've won the trophy, it's all positive things. There's a very positive vibe around the club around Europe.

"A lot of players I know are very interested about joining the project because it's a very interesting project."

Let's hope this is true, because we need recruits in the Summer to help us push on to the next level next season. If we can make the Champions League this season, then we'll be able to pull in better players.

I think we still need Champions League football to secure the very best players, but Europa League should at least secure us some decent signings in the summer. Without either I don't think we'd really get anyone that would improve us.

Agree but we are guaranteed some sort of European football i think we will pull in some decent players with the likes of Gerrard and Suarez in the squad

if we drop out of the top 10 no players will want to come here except for 2nd grade ones or throw aways from other clubs, i cant see the owners spending 100 mil again to finish out of top 6 no matter how many domestic trophies we win .

I agree.

We cannot afford to let this run keep going as we will sink out of the top ten quickly.

There is a queue of teams up behind us and we need to hold them off.
