Luis Suarez   £23,000,000
Andrew Carroll   £35,000,000
                £177,150,000

The vast majority of those players i wouldnt have signed. Some of them in a million years, some of them are good but not good enough, some of them are still young and can improve, most of them just average. Sturridge may prove to be a good signing he doesnt even know himself what hes capable of untill he has played regularly for a prelonged time. The problem i have with these sigings is that the total spend is £177m. weather you like the signings or not the fact is we should be much better than we are with that money spent. rodgers may be able to gel these players into a first class team but my concern from what ive seen is that a lot of our players to me seem mid table not top of the table. i dont know what the answer is but we seem to be wasting money after money after money on average players. suarez is our star player but what if he leaves? which is possible. not meaning to be pessimistic but we need some better players and weve spent £177m we should have them.

can you understand it oli? would you have bought those lot? why did we!? some of them like joe cole we would probably all of signed and obviously suarez, bellamy and a few others. When your talking about MOST of the signings you wouldnt have signed something is seriously amiss and were still doing it imo. dont mean to be down beat but every time we sign a player im thinking what are we signing him for.

yeah he looks a decent player. im hoping rodgers can make a team which is stronger than its parts. it is possible. dont get me wrong were constricted by who will play for us and how much were willing to pay them.

United aren't great on paper.

But they have two proven and regular goalscorers.

All bar the top five on the list were signed pre-Rodgers. 8 have been off loaded, 5 are academy players, 12 cost less than 3 mil.
of all that list the only two that I wouldn't have considered are Konchesky and Downing, both of whom were proven average at best players.
I was excited at the signing of Carroll at the time, even at the price. Who was to know he would turn out to be shite.
Meireles was another good signing, Suarez has been ok ( ), Enrique's pretty good. Aurellio and Bellamy where excellent when fit.
Then you have "the may do well in time group" - Borini, Allen, Assaidi, Yesil, Sturridge, Henderson, Coates, Shelvey, Wilson, Suso. I would say it is a bit early to write off any of these players.
Buying young players that will either have a long successful time at the club or a decent re-sale value is a long term strategy. It was never going to produce instant results. We all need a bit of patients or even Patience.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Sturridge looks a good player, 2 goals in his 1st 2 games he'll be well happy with that, but we need one or two more top class players in the team i.e Erikson from Ajax or Kevin Strootman would add goals to the team an should be available for 10-15 million

Fabio Borini   £10,000,000 - I thought the fee was a touch high, but Rodgers knows him and he did well for Roma. One I thought had potential and I still do.

Joe Allen                  £15,000,000 - I thought he looked very good for Swansea and was optimistic about him.

Oussama Assaidi   £2,300,000 - Knew little about him and had little expectation.

Samed Yesil   £1,000,000 - Looks a dynamo at youth level. Potential is there.

Daniel Sturridge   £12,000,000 - I have been keen for us to sign him for years and am pleased we have.

Jordan Henderson   £16,000,000 - I thought he looked decent at Sunderland and was encouraged by United's interest.

Charlie Adam   £7,000,000 - I was more keen to sign him in the January than the Summer.

Doni Free - Looked a good shout for backup.

Stewart Downing   £20,000,000 - I never wanted him. Flimsy and mediocre. Was not happy with him or the fee.

Sanchez Jose Enrique   £6,300,000 - I thought he was vey good for Newcastle and was pleased to see him signed.

Sebastian Coates   £7,000,000 - I was delighted we beat City to him - especially when I saw how crap Savic was.

Craig Bellamy   Free - Very happy that he came back and was sad to see him go. We would be better off wih him.

Villyan Bijev Signed - I knew little about him and still don't!

Danny Ward £100,000 - Another I knew little about.

Jonjo Shelvey    £1,700,000 - He looked well above League One and seemed a fine prospect.

Milan Jovanović Free - I was encouraged by Real Madrid's interest but was skeptical.

Danny Wilson   £2,000,000 - I thought he looked good for Rangers but wasn't overly confident in him as they were in a crap league.

Joe Cole Free - His best years were already comfortably behind him though I thought it showed we could still beat top clubs to players.

Fabio Aureilo Free - I thought re-signing him was pointless given his injury problems.

Christian Poulson   £4,500,000 - I was not optimistic that he could even get in our team let alone replace Mascherano.

Brad Jones   £2,300,000 - I always thought he looked decent for Boro and thought he could be a decent reserve.

Raul Meireles   £11,500,000 - He looked like a Rafa signing rather than a Hodgson one. I was pleased to see him signed and relatively disappointed to see him go.

Paul Konchesky   Swap - I never rated him and was very disappointed to see him arrive.

Suso Signed - Looked a good prospect.

Yusuf Mersin £450,000 - Knew nothing of him.

Luis Suarez   £23,000,000 - Was delighted when we got him having seen how good he was for Ajax and Uruguay.

Andrew Carroll   £35,000,000 - Thought he was garbage as a youngster and was concerned about the price and one dimensional style.

Fair assesments. Carrol is the main one that f**ked us up really. Had we signed a proper £35m player things would be very different.

Sturridge for £12m or Carroll for £35m?
