ok now this is a subject ive wanted to post about for the past few weeks and if iam honest iam sick of hearing about it cause it just makes us sound like we have gone from a 1 man team to a 2 man team and that just aint so.....

now here are my points 1st off iam gonna go back a few years to when judas used to play for us,now him and gerrard had an understanding just like torres/gerrard have now yet we played with 2 strikers and half the time gerrard was used as a defensive midfilder or a right winger so if that worked to great effect whats the difference now.ok move forward to today or the start of the season or last season now gerrard and both torres spent time on the sideline and at times we struggled and when they were in the squad we didnt but here is my gripe i belive that if gerrard was to drop into the vacent spot left by xabi(if sold) then i still beilve the torres gerrard combination will be just as effective....

i belive we posses the players in the squad that if we dont sign a 2nd real striker that can fill in that hole, kuyt i think could be ideal people may laugh but i think he can and when gerrard was out and he did play in that role he was quite effective,he dosnt have the pace witch dosnt matter when you play behind the striker with pace, plus when he has the ball defenders will come to him createing space for torres to glide into, now this is gonna shock a few people includeing myself i cant belive iam about to type it but yossi could also play that role there i said it.....

now alot of this rests or hinges on xabi being sold and if he is we have to use that money to buy a 2nd striker, you cannot win the prem with 1 real out an out striker ill say it again YOU CANNOT WIN THE PREM WITH 1 STRIKER,this is not about the combination of 2 players this is about what is best for the team and with gerrard back in the middle and a 2nd stirker next to torres that is whats better for the team and it wont effect the torres gerrard combination, gerrard is far better goin forward than xabi so its not gonna weaken anythink yet fans seem to think it will and i just dont see it.....

i like the next man woman or child luv to see them playin together but i just think long term it will benifit the team a great deal more with a striker partner for torres and gerrard bossing the midfield and createing for both and terroriseing teams more from his real postion....

keep xabi hopefully and keep gerrard playing behind torres.
you say we dont have another striker but i REALLY REALLY want to see nemeth and ngog play a bit more both are extremely promising.
ngog last year looked a bit like a raw torres imo and nemeth just looks great - maybe another year for pacheco but same deal.
if babel isnt sold then even he should do well up front by him self - hes strong and fast just not much of a team player.

with the 3 of the 4231 that i expect well play next season i wouldnt mind kuyt gerrard and yossi/riera (hopefully silva)
to swap around alot because all of them are capable of playing left right and behind the striker.

Too much talk about the gerrard/torres partnership.

love the partnership but we need other striking options too.

what if both gerrard and torres our out injured at the same time do you seriously see nemeth or ngog for all there potential leading the line of a top prem side cause i dont,a raw torres is 10 times better than ngog...i like both nem and ngog but they arnt 1st team material for atleast another 2 seasons....

we failed to break sides down at times last season and teams that can play just stick 2 markers on torres or push him wide, they play with a holding midfilder who marks gerrard and that is our attack killed off right there and iam not a manager so someone with half a brain will work it out.you add a 2nd striker a real striker proven striker next to torres you kill that 2 defenders on 1 striker bit gerrard from the middle you also face the dilema of who to mark him with witch inturn creates space in the middle....

we have some promising youth strikers the word promiseing is the key,2 to 3 years and maybe we will start seeing that promise turn into good but right now this season we need another striker plain and simple and the gerrard torres partnership for all its worth is not good enough to win the prem

Spot on mate, personally i don't want Xabi sold but if he is and Rafa moves Gerrard back in the middle with Mascherano then i have no problem as they would find it a bit more harder to pick a player up from a deeper position and Gerrard will become more dangerous from that position. The midfield wont become dis jointed if this was to happen, Babel/Kuyt or Yossi on the right also any ot these 3 can play behind Torres and Riera/Yossi/Babel or Aurellio on the left of midfield.
