With Carra getting a lot less time on the pitch last season & likely to get even less this coming campaign, maybe it's time we should be looking at a new vice-captain?

Carra's been a loyal servant to the club & I love him to pieces, but if Gerrard continues to miss a number of games through injury then we need a vice-captain who will actually be making the starting XI to be able to step in when Stevie's out. My shouts would be Reina or Skrtel, or maybe even Lucas - who showed through his absence at the back end of last season what an important player he has become for the club. The only problem with Lucas would be the potential that the injury may have taken something away from his game, I would say that he needs to show that he's still got it before he can be handed such an important role.

So it's down to Reina or Skrtel for me, and I can't make my mind up. I think Reina overall has the better attributes as a leader, but I'm not too keen on keepers captaining the side, as they're not really in a position to communicate with more advanced players.

Thoughts?

I think it is a good point if both of them aren't in the side a lot we need to replace one and we all know who it'd be. I love Carragher but it's time for him to step aside. I don't like Captain keepers to for similar reasons. I think Skrtel I'd love another centre mid but we don't have any bar Lucas of enough support at the minute

I would vote for Skrtel he really did hold the backline together and i am the same not liking keeper captains but i would say Reina will get it tho he has been captain previously so he may be next in the pecking order .

Skrtel's a terrific defender, but Agger seems to be more of a leader to me. Plus he's the captain of Denmark, which is a massive plus. And Agger's been here longer too.

I'd go for Danny.

Ole Skittle gets my vote as well, good organiser and doesn't mind getting stuck in, to be fair i would be happy with Agger as well but i am old school and CBs as captains or vice

I'd go with Lucas. He showed a lot of character during his first couple of years at the club and has won the majority of the fans over. He strikes me as being a loyal sort of guy who would remain at the club for a long time and that is something you need in your vice-captain as, one day, in the natural order of things, he would become captain.
When the time comes for Stevie to hang his boots up I would hope to see Lucas take over, with either Henderson or Shelvey as vice.

I agree Carra's time has passed now, and it is time to hand the vice-captain's role onto someone else. It's a tossup between Skrtel & Lucas for me, if Reina was an outfield player I'd give it to him in a heartbeat though.

I'd agree with this, most of his injury problems seem to be behind him too (touch wood) so he should be on the pitch to step into Gerrard's shoes if he's out.

Agger or Reina for me.

I think its still a bit early for Lucas to be given the added responsibility but he sure is the future captain.

Skrtel is a great defender but I don't see him as a captain.

He has let loose the two seas (the salt and fresh water) meeting together. Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you deny?

I agree with this... Not really sure what else to add, SB has summed it up pretty well

Agree with that.
If Rodgers wants someone a bit more experienced then I'd go with Agger or Reina. But otherwise Lucas.
