Ironic how we were over loaded in midfield at the start of the season but with Raul and Aqua gone we really only have Spearing, Adam, Lucas and Henderson (and Stevie when he's fit) to pick from.

At the moment we don't have that game changing midfielder but hopefully Steve will bring that back to the team replacing Adam.
Spearing imo, no matter how strange and outrageous it may seem would be more effective than Adam on current form.

Id much rather see Spearo in with Lucas (who i believe is first choice now, until stevie returns) for the Everton game, his passing is better at the moment as is his motivation, determinism, passing and general fitness.

for me, lucas and spearing will be very defensive choice.. and i'm sure most of the fan doesn't like when we play too defensively because we are liverpool... i'm not against you bigdonga.. dont get me wrong.. it's just my personal opinion..
i think, because of our midfield are quite terrible now, i rather we play 5 in midfield..
i aggree with u robbieGod23/9..our cb also not good enough.. but if u watch our game, u see that our midfield not closing down as early as possible.. the midfield also not dictate the game.. when the ball lose, it's hard to get the ball back.. for me thats the biggest problem.. our midfield not dominating the match and not covering the midfield area..
yes cara been slow but i dont think all cb quick.. barca dont have a quick cb but their midfield do their work..

Its a bit much to ask them to close down that much when were playing such a deep defensive line.

Also, Spearing has a great engine and passing ability, many fans see him as a DM, but imo he's far from it.

Spearing isn't as good as Lucas that's not a question, Lucas is the best we have in that position.. My only question is is he good enough for Liverpool , can we do better?

We were deep but as I said in my opinion
they were getting split, it wasn't as if we were defending with them both behind the ball, wolves were playing in between them.. Should wolves with all due respect be coming to anfield and having more of the ball?

If we are talking a tactical issue with us defending deep then changes need to be made because we shouldn't be allowing teams to dictate the ball at our place.. Also from
reports iv read and heard from a couple of south American experts coates won't be the answer as he always defends deep as he lacks pace..

Yes I think our defensive line is s**t Our Cbs take a step or two back even at the edge of the box when it is time to press and apply pressure on the player making it difficult to him to turn or to manage time to play a pass and this will get us in trouble.
To keep the opponent strikers on their toes and for effective pressing I think we should to play a high line.

Also, Spearing has a great engine and passing ability, many fans see him as a DM, but imo he's far from it.

I have liked most of what I have seen of Spearing the confidence he dictates on the pitch and making runs all over the pitch taking a shot or two.
I think he should be given a chance in midfield this season well it can't be worse with the chemistry we see between Lucas and Adam as Spearing has done well previously playing with Lucas.

He has let loose the two seas (the salt and fresh water) meeting together. Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you deny?

I have been thinking of this again this morning ( sad bastard)

Ok this season probably one thing we can agree on is that we have played well first half in games and generally flater second half..

I have to put this in again that I have said numerous times that Lucas is doing his job better than Adam is doing his..

Lucas is deeper than usual ( or he was last season ) due to rightly pointed out we are deep as a defence but I also think he feels if he gets forward he can't rely on Adam getting back or making tackles and that leaves us open..
This made me think why.. I re watched the full game against wolves again last night to look in depth why and I also looked into some stats this morning.. First half Adam was full of life.. Up and down for the first half hour.. Then just up and eventually down, Lucas is being responsible and holding his position because of this.. Adam is running our of steam very early in games, he is making joe cole look fit.. In the first half against wolves he attempted 5 tackles.. When we were on top in the second when we weren't he attempted 0.. He couldn't get round.. Seriously he made no attempted tackles second half.. The passes by all four in midfield were this.. Adam attempted 40.. Lucas 36.. O hara 83.. Henry 56 ( henry with the best completion %) also only tiote at Newcastle has more yellow cards than Adam in the premier league since the begining of last season.. And ian holloway regulary ( or more than you would think for a star man ) took Adam off between 60-70 mins last season..

My worry is they are at the moment not geling as a pair not having a go at Lucas as it's being made out.. And also for the record any Liverpool player who pulls on the shirt gets my full support during games.. I never boo or shout anything other than support at the ground but I can see ( in my opinion) a real issue in the middle of the park right now that makes me nervous.. Adam in the second half of games is a passenger and needs to get fitter.. Yes we an issue with defending deep too..

Havent posted since the stoke game where i was so annoyed with the result i just sulked and couldnt bring myself to write out what i thought, the spurs game where two of my mates came over to my  house (two spurs fans i might add!) drank my beer and toasted their win with pure smugness. I was fxxking fuming inside but had to suffer in silence as the missus was at home with the baby! And the wolves game..we won but wasn't a convincing victory but 3 points all the same. For me against Everton we are going to need a 3 man midfield. Against spurs parker and modric were running the show, and on saturday henry and ohara for a good part were calling all the shots and players of that calibre of the last two mentioned shouldnt be doing that at anfield. Spearing has to be in for saturday as i think it will give licence to lucas and especially adam  to dictate and create going forward. Not saying spearing cant do that as well he can ..but i see him as more as a busy tenacious sort of midfielder prepared to graft and i reckon lucas will benefit alongside him as he knows his game from their pairing at the end of last season and adam can float just in around the forwards a touch higher up the pitch where i think he is a bit more suited and be effective. We know whats coming just like everton do and make no mistake about it the midfield always is more often than not where the game is won or lost and we need to gain and keep a degree of control of it (In a Derby!) If we are going to win.
