Manchester United are to sign former England striker Michael Owen on a free transfer, according to reports.
Owen’s Newcastle contract lapsed on July 1 but although the former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker apparently remained eager to stay in the Barclays Premier League, it appeared only the likes of Stoke and Hull were ready to make a concrete offer.
They now appear to have been joined by reigning champions United, who have lost star man Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina striker Carlos Tevez since the end of last season.
Owen suffered from a series of injury problems during his stint at St James’ Park and Sir Alex Ferguson is thought to be lining up a pay-as-you-play deal for the forward.
The 29-year-old was believed to be on around £110,000 at Newcastle, for whom he scored 10 goals as they were relegated to the Coca-Cola Championship last season, but would be happy to take a reduced basic salary for a top-four club.
Owen has failed to persuade England coach Fabio Capello that he has both the form and fitness to add to his 89 international caps but would relish the chance to forge a partnership with the Italian’s first-choice striker, Wayne Rooney, at Old Trafford.
The little turncoat cnut has just burnt every last tie he had with us, the mercenary has just shown his true colours

lets not forget he too was an boyhood everton supporter
i hope he does sign for them and has a "berbatov" season just so everyone can see how shite he has become ,,, for me i totally lost interest in owen when he left us to go to real madrid and the sense of justice when stevie G lifted that CL trophy and i trully think that was when he himself realised what he lost and since then he has just become a "mercenary" and he isnt very good at that
,,,,,,,,,,what a w*nker!

Nope, he was indeed an Everton fan as a youngster.
To be fair, you lot can be hostile towards Owen, but I frankly don't give a crap one way or the other. The only way this move will bother me is if he happens to score the goal that gives Utd the title, and I think we all know that won't happen.

Blah !! Who cares! If UTD are stupid and desperate enough to sign Owen then they deserve one another. Considering Owen has to be one of the most injury prone players in the PL I'd be surprised to see him come through a stringent medical test with flying colours.

He was dead to me that moment he went to RM, but now it's more in a place where I'd like to have killed him. Rot in hell you mother f**king pile of s**t.
All around the fields, of Anfield road,
Where once we watched the King Kenny play and could he play!
Stevie Heighway on the wing, we had dreams and songs to sing,
Of the Glory round the fields of Anfield Road.

LOL, you find me ONE SINGLE MANC who EVER had a good word to say about Michael Owen when he was in his prime playing for Liverpool! You've got more chance of finding a rocking horse having a crap outside Old Trafford!
And now we see them applauding the 'genius' of their manager in signing someone who has spent more time injured than Douglas Bader!
Only difference? Bader was a real hero!

As the above....
It was hillarious in work this evening when the news broke.. You would think that the mancs had signed Kaka, Gerrard and Torres for nothing..! It was so funny, Owen has finally showed what we have always believed - "Once a blue, always a manc".!
I really dont care what the little judas does. Rafa and Capello dont think he is good enough and this is an act of desperation by Fergie, he actually thinks that this will bother Rafa...!
I think that this will work in our favour, cos if Rafa ever needy any motivation for us to get No 19, this is it... And we all know that Carra will do anything he can to stop any ex-player scoring against us.
Why has Fergie signed an injury prone Liverpool reject - cos no one else wants to play for them and their better players are jumping ship...

The f**king funny thing is that Manure UTD have lost two players who won them the premiership ( be it by a fuckin fluke) and they replace them with Valencia ( who the f**k is he , he was that great for wigan was he, f**k no) and Owen a turncoat permanently injured pile of shite. well done you f**king stupid jock twat for those great signings.
Rafa on the other hand, great signing in Glen Johnson, he even turned down a s**t load of money to come to the mighty Pool, and i'm sure Rafa has some others up his sleeve and it would not surprise me if one of them is David Villa.
One by one the whole United squad visit the doctors and they all have the same complaint, they all tell the doctor that they get sexually aroused when they look in the mirror. The doctor says it because you are all a bunch of Cunts!!!!
