Quote from: SkySports
Liverpool defender Philipp Degen faces a new spell on the sidelines through injury.

The Swiss international has endured a nightmare start to his Anfield career due to a series of injuries following his arrival on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund last summer.

The 24-year-old had only recently returned to fitness from a metatarsal injury he picked up in the Carling Cup defeat by Tottenham in November.

Degen sustained a new foot injury in last week's reserves clash with Manchester United.

Scans have revealed no break to the metatarsal, but the full-back still faces up to a month on the sidelines.

Oh well. Arbeloa is good enough anyway, and if anything happens to him, we have Carragher to fill in. Hell, we even have that Darby lad (correct?) if we need a 3rd choice.

We may as well of spent all our money on a big name with the way the money has been wasted in the summer,
Shows how strong our squad is to be in with a shot of the league.

Apart from Dossena/Cavalieri/Ngog and Degen(but you cant really count him as always injured)  i think were back to last seasons squad and that wasnt good enough last season can it be good enough this year?

I think a lot of our problems are to do with how much change there is over a few seasons, We have a lot of youngsters and younger players surely they can only improve if they consistently play as a team?

I feel we could of kept crouch and concentrated on more right side strength, The Transfer/wages money out laid on Keane and Dossena & Degen and the money saved with Risse and Finnans exits could of brought in someone world class or another Riera.

couldnt agree more,i made a simlar post the other week in another topic saying the players brought in have stung us in 2 ways, they all are no better or alot worse than what we had and they all forign and with this new ruleing on home grown players its left us in a mess....

but you right keeping them 3 and useing the fees from the new signings we could of had 2 class players instead of 4/5 medioca 1s....

but in raffa we trust lol

his fee was free but that just means no money between to clubs deegan can comand a nice signing on fee and his wages so its not really nothing

it will of been something like 1 to 3 mill, just cause a fee isnt payed to the club dosnt mean a fee is not paid
