I'm a bit of a Frenchie (via my grandfather) so i support les bleus.  have done so ever since i was young. (For those of you who hate France, well you can just EAT IT.   )

Anyways, i fully admit that the French program has been a complete disaster and embarassment the last few years.  This world cup just took the ineptitude to a new, almost unatainable level as we all witnessed.  Naturally i was pissed off at how things went under the watchful eye of Inspector Clousseau aka Domenech.

So in comes Laurant Blanc.  A guy who i have respect for.  What is his first course of action?  Suspending the ENTIRE TEAM.  It's really quite funny.

As a fan, i like the decision.

hey it's a pretty strong statement on Blanc's part.

Most people take playing for their country very seriously.

Oh im not argueing that point that they take is serious but something more should be done in my opinion because what happened at teh WC was a disgrace. Not sure what but missing a friendly is nothing serious as they will be called back up for the following game and I dont see why he should damage the national team by making it weaker for the upcoming friendly because if they loose due to not being at full strength its just going to make the France team look even worse in my opinion.

It's kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't position for him to be in.  Obviously some of the players from the world cup squad will carry over into Blanc's squad because they are too good not to be.  However this allows him to call up some young players who he's likely had his eye on and gives them the opportunity to wear the strip.  My guess is that more than a few of them will stay on the national teams past this friendly and more than a few of the world cup guys will be told to f**k off.

All i know is that Blanc has been given a pretty hard job (to fix Domenech's mess) and this is a pretty good first move.  In my opinion at least.

im sure  the guys couldnt care less about missin this game

its just the french trying to look like there doin something but when u look at there really doin nothing

i doubt many of the w/c squad would of bin picked anyway .. as we know the 1st internationals of the season always end up bin a squad of nearly men ..as the rest get injured packin their bags ..so their club managers say anyway

they'll care about missing the game if Blanc decides that International form is the basis of tournement teams. If he makes it so that every player banned has to work exceptionally hard and deliberately drops them from a few squads, then Blanc could really have their nads in a vice. Plus he wasn't at the world cup so no-one would blame him for the action

if it is just this then I agree with you TAP but if Blanc uses it systemically, he could have found a simple way to grasp the respect and fear of the players

Smoke me a kipper i'll be back for breakfast!!!

Most definate a very strong statement, disrespect the team or manager and get dropped for the next one. Maybe Capello should drop one or two of our so called stars then maybe they will take playing fro their country a bit more serious
