Former Liverpool forward John Toshack says it is time for Jurgen Klopp to start winning some trophies.
The German arrived in October 2015 and, despite reaching three cup finals since, has failed to so far put any silverware in the trophy cabinet at Anfield.
He lost out in the 2015/16 League Cup and Europa League finals before his side were defeated by Real Madrid in last season’s Champions League final in Kiev.
And ex-Wales boss Toshack has warned Klopp that he needs to start delivering success or his job could be on the line.
“If Liverpool don’t win a trophy this year then they’ve got a decision to make.” he said.
“Things look really good at the moment, but this is Klopp’s third full season at Liverpool and this is the acid test for him.
“You can be unlucky not to win a trophy, but at the top clubs that’s what matters.
“It’s such a fine dividing line, but when you’re at a club like Liverpool that’s what it’s all about.” he added.
Toshack did recognise that Klopp faces a huge task in trying to beat champions Manchester City to the Premier League title this season.
“Klopp seems a super guy. He’s open with the players and tells it how it is.
“Maybe he’s too passionate at times, but the dividing line is so thin between first and second.
“You feel City have got the edge with Pep Guardiola because they’ve got trophies behind them.
“That’s a big thing and Liverpool haven’t won any yet.” he finished.
