Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt is “on the list” of players Liverpool are interested in bringing to the club.
That’s the opinion of Reds centre-back Virgil Van Dijk – who is currently on international duty with the highly-rated nineteen year old.
“He is already very far, especially at that age.” he told De Telegraaf.
“A good defender, good boy, calm, knows what he wants and hopefully he makes the right choice in his next step.
“He will be on the list because they have enough scouts at the club.
“If they need my opinion at Liverpool, I’ll give it.” he added.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp made Van Dijk the most expensive defender in the game when he sanctioned a £75m deal to bring him to Anfield from Premier League side Southampton almost a year ago.
And the twenty-seven year old reckons that de Ligt is likely to cost the club less than he did if he is signed.
“They will pay less for Matthijs!” he continued.
“The amount for me was very high though.
“It’s just like that and, if he ever becomes the most expensive defender, I’ll be the first to congratulate him.” he finished.
Liverpool supporters will be hopeful that the exciting teenager could be a potential target for the club, but the form of Joe Gomez could mean that no bid is necessary.
