Barcelona are interested in signing Alberto Moreno from Liverpool.
That’s the surprise claim again being made by the Spanish press as the La Liga champions look to add cover at left-back when the January transfer window opens.
Mundo Deportivo are reporting that the former Sevilla man is still attracting interest from the Catalan giants as they look to replace Everton defender Lucas Digne following his Summer move to Goodison Park.
Moreno is in the final year of his contract, which he signed when he arrived on Merseyside back in the Summer of 2015, and will be free to leave Anfield at the end of the campaign should no new deal be agreed.
That means that Barcelona are looking to do a cut price deal to take him back to his homeland in the new year – with the article claiming that they have already prepared plans to open talks with his agent.
Moreno has had a chequered time at the club since he signed three years ago and has found himself stuck as backup to Scotland international Andrew Robertson for the past year or so.
A fresh start elsewhere might be the best idea for the cheerful defender, but whether moving to the Camp Nou to act as backup to Spain internatioal Jordi Alba is the best choice remains to be seen.
He is not the only left-sided defender of interest to Barcelona, however, with Juan Bernat of Paris Saint Germain, Ferland Mendy of Lyon and Valencia’s Jose Luis Gaya all reported to be on their shortlist of options.
