Liverpool attacker Divock Origi will miss both games against Chelsea this week.

The Belgian international has been sidelined with an ankle injury for much of the season so far – and manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that it has been an issue for over two years.

“Divock is not far away but it’s an ankle thing and a very unfortunate situation.” he said.

“We will be very careful.

“The ankle was the problem he had after the Everton game years ago.

“He will be back, I’m pretty sure, next week, but not now.” he finished.

Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori, who now plays for Spanish club Villarreal, was sent off for a horrific foul on the striker during the Merseyside derby played in April 2016.

Origi spent last season on loan at German club VfL Wolfsburg and looked set to make another, potentially permanent exit, this Summer – but an acceptable offer was not received by the club and he has remained a part of the squad.
