Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge was pleased to make a contribution to the side after starting his first game of the season.
The England international was drafted into the eleven for the visit of Paris Saint Germain in the opening round of Champions League group stage fixtures.
And the former Chelsea and Manchester City striker marked his return to the lineup with the opening goal in a 3-2 victory for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they look to go one better in the competition this season.
“It is great to contribute to the team.” he said.
“It is a team here and everybody is going to add to the wealth of the club.” he added.
His manager was also pleased to see the twenty-nine year old mark his return to the team with a goal – and said that he believes Sturridge is in his best shape since he took over in October 2015.
“I told him this is the best shape since I know you physically, and you have to use that.” the German said.
“He played a super game, super goal.” he added.
Liverpool supporters will hope that Sturridge can continue his return to form by contributing more goals as the season progresses.
