Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge is hoping to see more from Roberto Firmino after the international break.
The Brazil international, who found the net for the Samba Boys over the weekend, has had a fairly low key start to the domestic season by his very high standards.
And that has seen Aldridge say that he would like to see the former Hoffenheim forward lifted and returning to the kind of form that saw him find the net regularly last season.
“For whatever reason, Roberto Firmino hasn’t been playing to his true potential yet this season.” he told the Echo.
“Hopefully scoring for Brazil the other night will give him a big lift and he’ll come back refreshed.
“He warranted that opportunity to start for Brazil. To retain that position, he’ll need to keep his level for Liverpool at a top standard.
“He’s got a couple of goals in a couple of games now, as a striker that’s what you need.
“He needs to be flying and hopefully this is the start of him getting back to what he’s good at.” he finished.
Firmino has opened his account for the season having scored the second goal in the 2-1 win over Leicester City before the international break, but he hasn’t been at his best so far.
