Liverpool have been drawn in Group C of the Champions League alongside Paris Saint Germain, Napoli and Red Star Belgrade.
It was expected that Jurgen Klopp’s men would face a tricky task to get through the group phase after being put into pot three of the draw.
French champions Paris Saint Germain will pose the attacking threat of Brazil superstar Neymar along with formidable Uruguay international stiker Edinson Cavani.
And his former side Napoli will also offer a stern test of Liverpool’s credentials after coming agonisingly close to winning Serie A last season.
They are now managed by former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti, who took over from Maurizio Sarri this Summer when the Italian left for Stamford Bridge himself.
Liverpool will feel confident against the Italians thanks to a 4-0 preseason friendly victory against them in July.
Rounding off the group is Marko Grujic’s former side Red Star Belgrade, who will present an unknown quantity for many supporters.
