Rangers are keen to sign Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke on loan.

The Scottish club are managed by Anfield legend Steven Gerrard and he appears to be keen to take a third player on loan from his former club.

Youngers Ovie Ejaria and Ryan Kent are already spending the season at Ibrox having completed loan moves to play under the former Liverpool skipper for the Scottish Premiership club.

Both The Scotsman and The Mirror are reporting that the former Chelsea striker is of interest to Gerrard and he is said to be ‘confident’ of securing a deal.

The England under-21 forward struggled to make much of an impact during his first season at Anfield last year, scoring just once in twenty-seven appearances across all competitions.

That goal came in the final domestic game of the season when Jurgen Klopp’s men beat Brighton & Hove Albion 4-0 at Anfield to secure fourth place in the Premier League table.

Klopp may opt to let Solanke move on for the season in order to gain further experience and more regular game time, but he could decide that he needs the youngster to stick around as cover.

Brazil international Roberto Firmino remains as clear first-choice up top for the German, but the race is on between the rest of the strikers in the squad to be next in line.
