Chelsea are reported to be lining up an offer to sign Nabil Fekir.
The Lyon captain came agonisingly close to joining Liverpool earlier this Summer before seeing the move called off at the eleventh hour after concerns were raised in his medical examination over a prior knee injury.
But he could be handed the opportunity to cross the channel and become a Premier League player this week if the London club firm up their interest with an offer.
France Football are reporting that the twenty-five year old has emerged as a potential target for new Stamford Bridge boss Maurizio Sarri – who is very keen to improve the squad he has inherited from compatriot Antonio Conte.
It has been claimed that Fekir would rather make the move to Anfield this month, with Chelsea seen as a less attractive prospect due to their lack of Champions League football this season.
“France Football are saying Chelsea are interested in signing the one-time #LFC target, but Fekir doesn’t fancy it so much as they aren’t in the Champions League.” Echo journalist Ian Doyle tweeted.

Fekir has refused to rule out the prospect of ending the saga this month by making an exit from the Ligue 1 club – where he says he remains happy.
“As you can see, I am in Lyon. I am very happy here.” he said.
“But the transfer window is still long and everything goes very quickly in football.
“We don’t know what will happen in the future but I am very happy at Lyon. I feel brilliant in this squad. We have very good players, a great atmosphere.
“It is a bit like the French national team: a mixture of youngster and older players, with some players more experienced than others.
“We have a good group, very homogeneous. We feel good together and I hope that Lyon will have a very good season.” he finished.
It looks like there is plenty of mileage left in this transfer story for the media.
