Liverpool are continuing negotiations over a deal to bring Stoke City’s Xherdan Shaqiri to Anfield.
There is hope that the Switzerland international will move to Anfield in time for the upcoming preseason tour of the United States so that he can take part in the fixtures against Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Manchester United.
The twenty-six year old is reported to be available for a knockdown fee of around £13m after Stoke were relegated from the Premier League last season – despite his eight goals, which made him their top scorer.
Shaqiri is keen to remain a top flight player in England and has informed his club that he would like to move to a Premier League club this Summer and has set his sights on moving to Merseyside.
Rivals Manchester United remain interested in taking him to Old Trafford and former Stoke boss Mark Hughes is also keen on a reunion with the player he brought to England in 2015 from Inter Milan.
But Shaqiri has reportedly decided that he would like to finally make the switch to join Liverpool after previously being linked during his spells with Basel, Bayern Munich and Inter.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has already added Naby Keita and Fabinho to his squad this season and continues to be linked with further transfer deals as he looks to close the gap on champions Manchester City.
