Liverpool are preparing to make contact with AS Roma over a deal to sign Alisson Becker.
But the Brazil international is likely to be priced out of a move to Anfield as the Serie A club aim to avoid letting another star player leave them on the cheap.
Egpyt international Mohamed Salah swapped the Stadio Olimpico for Anfield a year ago in a deal worth around £35m before going on to become a world-class performer for the Reds.
His value has rocketed after he was the top scorer in the Premier League thanks to a record breaking haul of thirty-two goals, including just one penalty kick.
Manager Jurgen Klopp remains keen on exploring the possibility of bringing Alisson to Anfield after being impressed with his performances for the Italian club last season.
But interest remains from Real Madrid and Chelsea, with both of those clubs in financial positions to outbid Liverpool should they go ahead with moves to sign him.
Roma sporting director Monchi has confirmed that they will listen to offers for Alisson, but they are likely to demand a hefty fee for the player who is currently on holiday following Brazil’s quarter final exit from the World Cup.
“He has the same chance of staying as all the other players we have not received any offers for.” he said.
“If one arrives, we will study it and make a decision.
“We are working out when he will return to training after his post-World Cup holiday; ready to do even better than he did last season for us.” he added.
