Fenerbahce are looking into the possibility of doing a deal to sign Georginio Wijnaldum.
That is the claim being made by Turkish news oulet A Spor, who are reporting that ex-Holland international Philip Cocu has made signing his compatriot a target this Summer.
Wijnaldum has been at Anfield for two years now, since he arrived from Newcastle United in the Summer of 2016 following their relegation down to the Championship that season.
The Dutch international made enough impressive performances for them during that campaign to persuade Reds boss Jurgen Klopp to bring him to Anfield – where he has been a regular over the past two seasons.
But Wijnaldum is concerned, according to the article, that the recent additions of Fabinho and Naby Keita to the squad could see him slip down the midfield pecking order next season.
Cocu is hoping to take advantage of any concerns the twenty-seven year old may have and has previously shown plenty of faith in the midfielder by giving him the honour of being skipper at PSV Eindhoven during their time together at the Eredivisie club.
The Turkish club are hoping that the prospect of being a regular at a Champions League club could also help turn his head – despite Liverpool having already qualified for the group stage, with them needing to navigate the qualification rounds.
