Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has praised former boss Kenny Dalglish – and joked that he might not take his calls now.
The former Anfield skipper has taken over the reigns at the Ibrox club as he prepares for his first management position in first-team football.
But Dalglish, who managed Gerrard at Anfield between 2010 and 2012, is a Celtic legend and Gerrard has joked that it might come between the two friends now.
“Kenny is my hero. If you are a young boy growing up in Liverpool he is the man.” he is quoted by the Daily Record.
“I called him Sir even before he got his knighthood.
“But I am lucky enough to be able to call Kenny my friend.
“I can call him up any time but I know he is a Celtic man so he will probably let the phone ring out now!
“Seriously, though, our relationship is strong and I am grateful for the many bits of advice he has given me over the years.” he finished.
Dalglish is likely to have split loyalties as he wishes his former skipper well in his new role.
