Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Stoke City’s Xherdan Shaqiri.
That is according to a report by ESPN, who claim that Jurgen Klopp is set to press ahead with a bid for the Switzerland international this Summer.
It is claimed in the article that officials from Anfield met with Shaqiri’s agent, who is also his brother, last Friday to get the ball rolling over a transfer.
The twenty-six year old is available for a knockdown fee of around £12m after Stoke were relegated to the Championship.
A clause in his contract will allow him to leave the bet365 Stadium should they suffer the drop from the Premier League.
Liverpool will need to move quickly to ensure he does make the move to Anfield, however, as the report claims that several other clubs are also keen to snap him up.
Shaqiri was coy when asked about the speculation linking him with a switch to Anfield over the weekend, preferring not to confirm either way.
He has come close to joining the club in the past, when he was at Basel and Bayern Munich.
It now looks like he will finally become a Red.
