Newly appointed Stoke City boss Gary Rowett is prepared to let Xherdan Shaqiri join Liverpool.
The Swiss international is certain to make an exit from the relegated club this Summer as they prepare for life in the Championship as he heads to the World Cup in Russia.
And the former Derby County manager has revealed that he only wants players in his squad “who are committed to Stoke City” – which excludes the former Inter Milan attacker.
“No player will leave the club that is contractually with the club unless the club feel it is a good deal and the right deal for them.” he said.
“That is the most important thing but on the flip side to that, if player’s say they want to leave, then I want to work with players that want to be at the club.
“I want to put players on the pitch next season that want to be in a different league and understand the challenges of that league.
“I want players who are committed to Stoke City.
“And if players want to leave I will try and find the best solution to make that happen if that is the case.” he finished.
Liverpool are likely to activate the release clause in Shaqiri’s contract by making a bid of around £12m to bring him to Anfield in the coming days.
