Speculation is growing that Liverpool midfielder Emre Can could sign for a Premier League club.
The Germany international is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the month and the club have confirmed that he will be moving on once his deal has expired.
Italian champions Juventus are the favourites to land the former Bayer Leverkusen man on a free transfer on 1st July – but the Serie A giants have been able to agree a deal with Can since the start of the year.
Premier League clubs are unable to formally speak and agree terms with domestic players until their contracts have expired, which is leading many to suspect that Can could well join a Premier League rival.
Champions Manchester City are the most likely English club to make a move, according to the bookmakers, but they are locked in talks with Napoli to sign Italy international Jorginho at present.
That may not stop Pep Guardiola from swooping to land Can in a deal which would surprise many onlookers expecting the midfielder to head to Turin next month.
Manchester United are next in the running to pull off a shock deal to lure the former Bayern Munich man into making a move from Merseyside to Manchester once his contract ends.
But they too are also in negotiations to sign a midfielder in the shape of Shakhtar Donetsk man Fred, who is closing in on a move to Old Trafford.
Despite these impending deals, it is unlikely that either of the Manchester clubs would reject the opportunity to secure the signature of Can given the opportunity and lack of a price tag.
