Roma have told Liverpool that a deal for goalkeeper Alisson Becker will cost £87m.
That is according to a report by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who are claiming that the Serie A club have decided that the Brazil international is worth that kind of fee.
It would be a world record for a goalkeeper, smashing the record Manchester City set by signing his compatriot Ederson from Benfica last Summer for around £35m.
Real Madrid are also believed to be interested in signing the twenty-five year old, but they also have their eye on possible moves for Manchester United stopper David de Gea and Chelsea’s Belgian international Thibaut Courtois.
Alisson has been regularly linked with a move to Anfield, but Roma are determined not to let Liverpool have another of their star players on the cheap.
Egypt international Mohamed Salah was allowed to swap the Stadio Olimpico for Merseyside last year for just £35m and he has been a revelation at Anfield this season.
Whether Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp remains interested in Alisson remains to be seen, as Loris Karius has shown improved form since reclaiming the number one spot from Simon Mignolet.
