Liverpool are considering making a move to bring Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to Anfield.
That’s according to a report by Italian television channel Premium Sport, who are claiming that the forty-year old has emerged as a possible target for the club.
Buffon was expected to announce his retirement from football on Thursday, but he has said that he is considering continuing his career beyond the current campaign.
“Next week, after two or three days of reflection and serenity, I will take my decision.” he said.
“Fifteen days ago, I was already an ex-player. Now I’m not sure any more.
“Proposals have arrived for some new challenges on and off the pitch.
“The most important off the pitch is from Juventus.” he added.
Buffon will play his final game for the Serie A champions this weekend before taking the time to think over the offers he has on the table.
“Saturday will be my final match for Juventus and to end this journey with two cups and with the president and the entire Bianconeri world by my side, will be very special.” he said.
It seems unlikely that he will be a target for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp this Summer, but he would bring plenty of quality and experience to the club if he were offered a deal.
