Steven Gerrard is aiming to be reunited with former Liverpool team-mate Martin Skrtel at Rangers.
The ex-England international captain has reportedly made an offer to sign the Slovakian centre-back from Fenerbahce, according to an article in the Daily Record.
Skrtel, now thirty-three, spent six years playing alongside Gerrard at Anfield and so they know each other very well from those days in the Liverpool squad together.
It is being claimed that Gerrard has lodged a bid worth £4m to make Skrtel one of his early signings ahead of his first season in charge at Ibrox following his recent appointment to the role.
Turkish news outlet Sabah have also reported that the Scottish club are chasing a deal to take Skrtel to Glasgow this Summer as his future with Fenerbahce remains unclear.
Gerrard has already made one signing as Rangers manager, with Burnley’s Canadian international midfielder Scott Arfield agreeing to head north of the border when his contract expires at Turf Moor.
Skrtel would represent quite a coup for him, however, with the Slovakian defender very well experienced to take on Scottish football.
