Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic could be the subject of a surprise offer from Everton.
The Serbian international may well be a Summer transfer target for Marco Silva if the Portuguese coach is appointed manager at Goodison Park following the sacking of Sam Allardyce.
Silva has worked with Markovic previously when the pair were together at Hull City in the Premier League during the 2016/17 campaign and he may well decide to pursue a reunion.
The former Sporting Lisbon boss is the favourite to fill the vacant managerial position across Stanley Park after they made an unsuccessful move to prise him away from Watford earlier in the season.
Any appointment could be tricky as the Hornets are reportedly preparing to make a legal challenge to any move by Everton for the manager they sacked in January.
It is unlikely that they will block his appointment at Goodison Park, but they may do enough to persuade Everton to instead follow up their interest in Paulo Fonseca instead.
But should Silva take the reigns at Everton, he may well decide to attempt to make a rare transfer deal happen between the two Merseyside clubs this Summer by launching a bid for Markovic.
It is unlikely that the club would stand in the way of a deal given the desire to get him off the books.
