Emre Can has travelled with the squad to a training camp in Marbella.

The Germany international, who was left out of his nation’s World Cup squad this week, is hoping to make a surprise return to fitness in time to be considered for next week’s Champions League final.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will take on Real Madrid in Kiev on Saturday 26th May and Can is aiming to fight back from a back injury which has seen him sidelined since March.

It remains unlikely that he will be able to start the game, but he could bolster his manager’s options by being in good enough shape to take a place on the bench for the game.

He looks increasingly likely to leave Anfield when his deal expires at the end of June, however, as things have not progressed in finding a resolution over a contract extension.

Juventus, Bayern Munich and Manchester City continue to be linked with moves to lure him away from Anfield this Summer and he may well have played his last game for the club.

If he does end up leaving, he will be hoping that he can work his way back to fitness in time to be a part of the matchday squad for the showpiece final next weekend.
