Tottenham Hotspur are ready to listen to offers for Toby Alderweireld.
That’s according to a report by The Mirror, in which they say that the London based club are getting tired of the Belgian’s contract situation after being unable to find an agreement on a new deal.
The Belgium international has been in and out of the side this season thanks to injuries and his contract saga, with Spurs reluctant to match his demands for parity with the best paid defenders in the Premier League.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain are reported to be leading the race to lure the twenty-nine year old away from Spurs, but Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could be tempted into making a move.
Question marks continue to be raised over whether Dejan Lovren is the long-term partner January signing Virgil Van Dijk needs and pairing the Dutchman will Alderweireld would give Klopp the best defensive partnership in England.
The former Ajax, Atletico Madrid and Southampton man has just a year left on his contract, although Spurs do have the option to add an extra season, but they could decide to cash in now rather than risk losing such a valuable player for nothing.
Alderweireld has been rated by many as the best centre-back in the Premier League over the past couple of years, so it is likely that Klopp will at least consider making a bid to bring him to Anfield.
It would be a very popular move if he did decide to press ahead with it.
